Freshfel topics and activities

The Secretariat is in contact with Freshfel’s members on a daily basis to respond to their emerging needs and interests and to provide the latest information on policy developments. Accordingly, Freshfel keeps in close regular contact with the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament and the European Council.

Freshfel Europe is involved in the following policy areas, among others:

• Food and plant safety
• Food quality
• Agriculture
• Health and nutrition
• Research and innovation
• Sustainability 
• Consumption

The Secretariat as well as Freshfel’s members participate in EU Advisory Groups, EU Expert Committees and Civil Dialogue Groups on topics such as Agriculture (DG Agri), trade (DG Trade) as well as health, nutrition and food safety (DG Santé). Freshfel also participates in the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health and EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste.
